Samsung Galaxy S2 vs HTC Sensation 4G

Finally Samsung Galaxy S2 has found its match in HTC Sensation 4G

The smartphones are getting bigger and better with time. After the announcement of Samsung Galaxy S2, the super phone expected to arrive soon in the second quarter, there seemed to be no competitor or match for the smartphone. That will change with HTC Sensation 4G’s arrival.

Here is a comparison of the both the high end smartphones.

Size:
HTC Sensation 4G has a dimension of 126.1 x 65.4 x 11.3 mm and weighs at 148 g. Samsung Galaxy S2 has a dimension of 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5 mm and weighs at 116 g.

Display:
The HTC Sensation 4G features 4.3-inch display with a 540 x 960 pixel S-LCD capacitive touchscreen compared to the Samsung Galaxy S2’s 480 x 800 pixel Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen.

Input features:
The input features found in HTC Sensation are Gorilla glass display multi-touch, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, a proximity sensor for auto turn-off, gyro sensor and HTC Sense v3.0 UI. The Samsung Galaxy S2 features a Gorilla Glass display, TouchWiz 3.0 UI, multi-touch input method, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, touch-sensitive controls, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and Swype text input.

Memory:
The HTC’s smartphone has 768 MB RAM and 1 GB internal storage capacity with a support of microSD up to 32GB and 8 GB is included. Samsung Galaxy S2 depending on the model will feature 16 GB or 32 GB storage smartphone with 1 GB RAM and microSD up to 32 GB is supported.

3G:
The HTC Sensation 4G will have support of HSDPA 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps. Meanwhile Samsung Galaxy S2 supports HSDPA 21 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps.

WLAN/Bluetooth/USB:
The HTC’s Sensation 4G has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot support along with Bluetooth version 3.0 with A2DP and microUSB version 2.0 (MHL). On the other hand the Samsung Galaxy S2 has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot support along with Bluetooth version 3.0+HS and microUSB version 2.0 (MHL).

Camera:
HTC Sensation has an 8-megapixel 3264x2448 pixels camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, touch-focus, image stabilization, face detection and instant capture features. The camera can capture videos 1080p at 30fps and has stereo sound recording feature and comes along with a secondary VGA camera.

Samsung Galaxy S2 has an 8-megapixel 3264x2448 pixels camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection and image stabilization features. It can capture videos 1080p at 30fps and has a 2-megapixel secondary camera.

Operating System:
Both the smartphone will have the latest Android OS version 2.3 (Gingerbread).

Processor:
Samsung Galaxy S2 was the clear leader in terms of CPU speed until HTC Sensation 4G came along. Galaxy S2 has dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 Mali-400MP GPU, Orion chipset processor. While HTC Sensation 4G has 1.2 GHz dual-core Adreno 220 GPU, Qualcomm MSM 8260 Snapdragon processor.

Battery:
The battery found in HTC Sensation 4G is Li-Ion 1520 mAh battery whereas Galaxy S2 features Li-Ion 1650 mAh. HTC Sensation 4G will give stand by time up to 350 h and talk time up to 8 h 20 min while Galaxy S2 has a talk time of 9 h and 576 h of standby time.

Other features:
The common features found both the smartphones are SMS threaded view, MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM, HTML browser, Stereo FM radio with RDS, A-GPS support, Java MIDP emulator, SNS integration, digital compass, Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, TV-out via MHL A/V link, Picasa integration, organizer, voice memo-dial-commands and predictive text input.

Other features found in Samsung Galaxy S2 are active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, NFC support, MP4/DivX/XviD/WMV/H.264/H.263 player, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/AC3/FLAC player, image editor and viewer and document editor. The extra features found in HTC Sensation are MP3/AAC+/WAV/WMA player, XviD/MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV player and document viewer.

Latest news round ups on Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S2 shows that the smartphone is already available for pre-order in UK market while US release expected to be pretty soon as well, mostly expected to be released in May. And HTC Sensation to arrive shortly through T-Mobile is expected to be released in June in US.

The main highlight feature of HTC Sensation is its video-on-demand service and the HTC Watch. It leverages “progressive download” technology so that users may watch videos without waiting for the content to finish downloading. HTC Watch also allows users to instantly access a complete library of the latest as well as classic movies and TV shows. There is a Video Trimmer tool which allows users to crop their clips to desired size, allowing users to upload videos to different social networking websites for sharing them with family and friends.

Samsung Galaxy S2 on the other hand is claiming to be the fastest smartphone to date with a record breaking speed test. The Russian journalist Eldar Murtazin has been running the new Galaxy S2 through Quadrant and the smartphone scored 3,053 on the Quadrant charts and other smartphones were left far behind.
