iPhone 5 Specs Thought to Be Included and Highly Anticipated Release Date

The specs on the upcoming release of the highly anticipated iPhone 5 have been surrounded by quite a lot of rumors and speculation as to what exactly will be included and what, overall, improvements it will have over the iPhone 4.

What has been confirmed, thus far, is the inclusion of the combo feature CDMA/GSM/UTMS, a higher increase in processor speed, and a much improved antenna. Although not officially confirmed by Apple, surveys of technology information garnered from credible sources indicate that the following features will be likely included.

1. The Apple iPhone 5 is expected to have three versions; a regular version, one with a sliding keyboard, and a mini version.
2. 1.2GHz Dual Core Processor
3. A screen size of 3.7-4.0 inches (scratch and shatter proof)
4. A more powerful battery that exceeds the life of the 3G by 14 hours and the 4G by 7 hours
5. A megapixel camera that can record full HD video with a capped recording time of 25 to 30 seconds. The camera is equipped with an Omnivision OV8820 sensor.
6. NFC Technology – Allowing  a very high data transfer rate between two devices.
7. Facial Recognition – The iPhone 5 will be able to identify  its owner through facial recognition.
8. Information at your fingertips – For example, the iPhone 5 could be queried for the nearest type of specific ethnic restaurant or nearest hotel.

When will it be released?

The expected release has been thought to be in the month of June of this year in the US. However, many strong rumors have suggested that the release of the phone is reportedly being delayed due to problems with it’s operating system. Some sources have recently been indicating that, due to the much faster processor, shipping would not be able to commence until September which would indicated a release pushed back to the latter part of September.

This information is based on the more reliable rumors I could find. The iPhone 5’s final specs will likely vary some from what I have compiled in this article, however, this information provides a good glimpse into what is expected in the final product. The official release date is also not etched in stone at this stage.
